Great resource for people who can't read print

I got a telephone call this morning from a lady who is partially sighted due to macular degeneration. She said she was trying to get hold of King Audio about her Calibre audio book subscription that had stopped working.

I explained that unfortunately I was not the King Audio she was trying to get hold of as I provide transcription services. Therefore there must be another King Audio which deals with audio equipment.

However, when we ended the call I used the information she had given me to research it on the net and found what she was looking for: a charity that provides audio books for adults and children with sight problems, dyslexia or other disabilities who cannot read print.

I telephoned the lady back immediately to give her the telephone number. She was very grateful as the audio book she'd been listening to had stopped at the crucial point so she didn't know who'd done it!

The charity: Calibre Audio Library is a national charity providing a subscription-free service of unabridged audio books for adults and children with sight problems, dyslexia or other disabilities, who cannot read print.

My late father was partially sighted due to age-related macular degeneration, a cruel disease which robs you of central sight. I think the Calibre Audio Library would have been a great resource for him if I had known about it.

So please spread the word about this fantastic resource as it could brighten someone's life.
